Q: What is the one piece of advice you would like to share with other women looking to start an organization?

A. Just do it - but know your "WHY". A social entrepreneurial start-up isn’t just about serving people in need, that’s just one part of it - it’s actually about asking a question much bigger than ourselves and then going out and building an organization that can become the answer to that question.

Q: How can WorldWideWomen readers get involved in what you are doing?

A. By breaking the silence surrounding menstrual health. By putting menstruation on the agenda as there is a huge funding gap to ensure girls have access to proper menstrual ware. By speaking up - so we don't leave anyone behind!

This is what The Danish Design Award (DDA) jury said about SafepadTM when we won the DDA 2018: “In many places around the world, myths and taboos surrounding menstruation have unfortunate consequences, sometimes making girls and women stay home from school or work during their period. One of the causes is lack of access to sanitary pads or proper sanitation. The reusable sanitary pad addresses this problem and offers a sterile and durable solution. An innovative product that prevents infections while also helping to prevent the social isolation of girls and women in third-world countries.”

Q: Who is the greatest female influence in your life?

A. Mrs. Michelle Obama. She is also on a mission to inspire, empower, and connect people to change the world.

***
Q: Please share with us something that you want other women around the world to hear.

A. I am on a mission to inspire, empower, and connect girls and women to change the world. There are so many girls not being able to get an education because they don't have access to menstrual hygiene. Please help me to put this on the agenda - funding is needed, so we don't leave the girls behind.
